Situated
at the foot of the magic mountain of Provence, the Mont Ventoux
(appr. 6.500 feet), the small medieval village of Malaucène
(appr. 2.400 inhabitants) surrounded by wine yards, groves of
olive trees and vast orchards, is a perfect base to discover the
"real" unspoilt Provence with its small medieval villages
still left almost unchanged by the march of times.
Enjoy
the wonderful atmosphere and serenity of the monastery STE-MADELEINE,
listening to the magnificent gregorian chant offered daily to
the public. Or relax in the freshness of the fabulous grove of
the source "Groseau" with its potable water used by
mankind since roman times.
And for the gourmets: the truffles of Richerenches, ancient stronghold
of the Templar Knights.
Hiker
will love the constant change of pine forest, wine yards, apricot,
cherry and peach plantations.
In
the immediate vicinity the antique ruins of Vaison-la-Romaine
(9 km), Arles, Avignon, Orange, Pont-du-Gard, colourful village
markets, famous vine yards like Chateauneuf-du-Pape, Gigondas
etc as well as the lively villages of the Luberon.
A
must also the internationally recognized antique market of Isle-sur-la-Sorgue,
the second largest in France right after Paris.
